FAQs
You should typically begin wearing your compression garment immediately following your brachioplasty procedure, or as specifically directed by your plastic surgeon. The garment is applied in the operating room or during your initial post-op follow-up to help control immediate swelling.
Most surgeons recommend wearing your arm compression wear for 24 hours a day during the first 2 to 4 weeks, removing it only to shower. After the initial healing phase, you may be cleared to transition to wearing it for 12 hours a day or primarily during physical activity for an additional few weeks. Always follow your specific surgeon's post-operative protocol.
Hand wash your garment in cold water using a mild, fragrance-free detergent. Do not use bleach, fabric softeners, or harsh chemicals that can degrade the elastic fibers. Hang or lay flat to air dry. Avoid machine drying or ironing, as high heat damages the medical-grade compression fabric.
Your compression garment should feel snug, supportive, and evenly tight across the arms without causing sharp pain, numbness, tingling, or deep indentations that cut off circulation. If you experience severe discomfort, discoloration in the hands, or difficulty breathing, the garment may be too tight and you should consult your surgeon.
